ACADEMIC ADVISOR/LIFE SKILLS COUNSELOR

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, education, student development, social work, or related area; and one-year postsecondary experience with responsibility in career or financial aid counseling, academic advising, curriculum planning, or admissions are required. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Duties: The Academic Advisor/Life Skills Counselor Veteran Student Support Services (VSSS) position is a full-time professional position. The Academic Advisor/Life Skills Counselor VSSS will be responsible for student assessment, eligibility, orientation, advisement, counseling, graduation and transfer functions; develop and conduct workshops, maintain transfer resources, and arrange visits to four-year institutions, multicultural training experiences, and cultural events; and supply information for reports and assist in compiling them to demonstrate effectiveness. The successful candidate will represent the department at necessary functions, meetings, and conferences; assist students with enrollment processes in programs and courses during registration periods; administer interest, aptitude, and career related tests as needed; assign mentor/role models for students; and assist in communicating with upper level colleges and universities. This position reports to the Director, Veteran Student Support Services. This is a grant-funded position.

Duties: The Accounting Specialist position is a full-time career service position. The Accounting Specialist will process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions; respond to requests from various departments within the WSRE-TV station and at the College; assist with posting journal entries; maintain documentation for purchases, payments, and other Business Office activities; and provide assistance to other departments as needed. Additionally, the Accounting Specialist will assist in the preparation of various budget and annual reports; reconcile discrepancies; and maintain appropriate budget controls. On specific occasions, this position may be required to work at events on nights and/or weekends. This position reports to the Director, Business and Administration, WSRE. This is a grant-funded position.

Salary: $24,250.00 ($12.39/hour) -

Duties: The Admissions and Information Specialist position is a full-time career service position. The Admissions and Information Specialist will perform highly responsible administrative duties requiring detailed knowledge of college admissions policies, general enrollment requirements for all types of degrees and certificates, and resources for college and community students. The Admissions and Information Specialist serves as a one-stop liaison between the general public and district collegiate admissions offices by staying informed about general college information as well as detailed rules, regulations, and statutes. Additionally, the Admissions and Information Specialist will provide general enrollment, financial aid, testing information and student resources information to prospective students; maintain current and accurate knowledge of residency requirements as established by law; review and process admissions applications and student intake for potential students; take independent action to locate information and resolve problems; and perform some administrative functions associated with day-to-day operations. The Admissions and Information Specialist must establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees and the public. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Admissions and Records.

Salary: $21,280.00 ($10.87/hour) -

The Admissions Specialist will perform a variety of specialized departmental functions in a positive and professional manner. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, answering inquiries relative to the admissions process for general admissions, baccalaureate admissions, and health science admissions; maintaining current knowledge regarding the regulations governing admissions into diverse programs; corresponding with students regarding their eligibility for limited entry programs; corresponding with advisors and department representatives to assist students with the program admissions process; reviewing applicant files to verify required documents are on file; and notifying applicants when criteria for admission has been met or of documents needed to complete their file. This position requires availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends during peak registration periods. This position reports to the Director, Admissions and Records/ Registrar.

Duties: The Assistant Department Head, Mathematics and Computer Science position is a 12-month administrative position with an anticipated start date of August 20, 2018, but a different start date may be negotiated. The successful candidate will assist the department head with the administration of the department with duties to include, but not limited to, supervising department faculty and staff, advising student, observing and evaluating faculty, performing curriculum review and development, teaching courses, providing assistance in the hiring of full-time and part-time instructors, assisting with the management of the department budget, and participating in the recruitment and retention of students. Additionally, the Assistant Department Head will help oversee programs in Computer Science and Information Technology and the Math Labs; and perform other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Department Head, Mathematics and Computer Science.

Salary: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00 (Depending on the qualifications, the salary is negotiable.)

Duties: The College Police Officer positions are full-time career service positions. The College Police Officers will perform a variety of duties in the carrying out of law enforcement, security, and safety operations involved with the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, and rendering of services; patrol campus, regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic, write detailed reports, and provide escorts for people and currency. The College Police Officers will be assigned as an officer on any of the Pensacola State College campuses, require availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and may perform dispatcher duties as needed. The successful candidate will be enrolled into the FRS Special Risk Class. This position reports to the Director, Public Safety/Chief of College Police.

Salary: $25,195.00 ($12.87) -

Duties: The Computer Systems Analyst position is a full-time professional position. The Computer Systems Analyst will support and enhance the administrative applications for finance, HR/payroll, and student records. The computer systems analyst will develop equipment-oriented procedures such as conversion of an application from one computer system to another, provide solutions for a management information retrieval problem, and process simple generalized inquiry programs set. Additionally, the Computer Systems Analyst will analyze functional specifications of a complex program to design and develop detailed specifications and general flow charts for assigned routines; provide internal program interfaces; estimate and plan own work under general supervision; and seek to improve existing programming techniques to meet assigned objectives. This position requires availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as well as in-district and overnight travel. This position reports to the Director, MIS Support.

Salary: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 (Depending on the qualifications, the salary is negotiable. However, the College does not generally hire at the top of the range.)

Duties: The Contact Center Advisor position is a full-time professional position. The Contact Center Advisor will guide students through the application, financial aid, registration, and enrollment processes by providing accurate and up-to-date information to prospective and current students. The Contact Center Advisor may perform duties including, but not limited to, expanding student access to admissions via use of chat sessions; targeted recruitment events; calling campaigns; responding to student inquiries through telephone, email, and virtual communication; and any other duties as assigned. Additionally, the Contact Center Advisor will be required to work a flexible schedule including evenings and some weekends. This position reports to the Director, Student Engagement and Leadership.

Salary: $32,000.00 - $35,000.00 (Depending on the qualifications, the salary is negotiable. However, the College does not generally hire at the top of the range.)
