Pensacola State College will be well-represented at the 2018 American Advertising Awards this year. Two students – Kelly Bestgen and Alicia Kanuck ─ won gold awards at the district competition and qualified to compete at the national competition on June 8 in Chicago. The Pensacola State volleyball team has a new head coach. Jennie Belarmino has joined the college family. Formerly, the head volleyball coach at Lake Sumter State College, Belarmino has a wealth of experience including playing the sport at Ball State University and the University of Illinois.
Two Pensacola State College students have advanced to the 2018 HOSA National Leadership Conference after winning at the state conference held in Kissimmee. Katherine Gaskill and Christine Zaccardi placed first and second, respectively, in the veterinary science competition. Ashlee Johnson won fifth-place in the medical math competition.
Five Pensacola State College scholars were honored for academic excellence by the Florida College System. Alexandria Bly, Bradley Bunch, Kayla Pope, Miranda Taylor and Victoria Taylor were selected for the 2018 FCS All-Florida Academic Team.
Six Pensacola State College students each received $1,000 grants from the Florida Theatrical Association. Kathan Brannon, Sarah Lane, Veronica Lindholm, Demetrius McNutt, John Chance Ruschel and Jessica Wright were selected based on their leadership, accomplishments and performance abilities.
It all started with a hobby and a change of plans, but the decision to stop and talk to Pensacola State’s Visual Arts Department Chair Krist Lien was all Christopher White needed to picture a different path for himself.
