What is the Library Loan Policy?

Books circulate for a period of 4 weeks with 1 renewal allowed. Materials may be renewed by telephone at 484-2002 or online at My Account. Pensacola State students may borrow up to 10 items (books, videos, CDs) at a time; SUS students may borrow up to 6 items at a time, other users may have up to 2 books out on loan at a time. Overdue fees for books not returned on time accrue at a rate of 25 cents per day per book. If a book is lost, a mandatory $70.00 fee will be assessed as well as any fines accrued. Overdues for videos and reserve materials not returned on time accrue at a rate of $1.00 per day per item.

Who May Use Interlibrary Loan Services?

An interlibrary loan (ILL) is a transaction in which library material, or a copy of the material, is made available by one library to another upon request. Pensacola State students, faculty, staff and administrators may use the Interlibrary Loan service. An online Interlibrary Loan Request is available for your convenience.

Reserve Materials

This collection is composed of materials selected by faculty members to use in conjunction with classes they are teaching. Some financial publications and high-demand items are also part of the Reserve Collection. Reserve materials are checked out with various restrictions. An online Reserve Materials Request Form is available for faculty to use in placing items on reserve.

Library Workshops

Hands-on library workshops are scheduled to aid instructors with their teaching assignments. Students retain more from a library instruction session if it is scheduled at a time when the use of the library is necessary to complete a class assignment. To insure the best selection of workshop times, please schedule in advance. An online Library Workshop/Visit Request is available for your convenience.

Collection Development Policy

The primary collection development goal of the Pensacola State College Library is to provide and maintain collections in a variety of formats which support the curriculum and instructional programs of Pensacola State College. A secondary priority is to provide resources which support and enrich personal and professional growth and promote the development of an engaged and informed citizenry. The Collection Development Policy outlines the standards and guidelines for the selection and maintenance of the Library’s collection, serves as a consistent framework for those responsible for collection development, and communicates library policy to students, faculty, staff and the community.
