Additional Info
The Philosophy Club has been an important part of the History, Languages, and Social Sciences Department since its inception (the Club began in the times of the History, Languages, and Philosophy Department, back when Pensacola State was PJC). We give students an opportunity and a place to meet people with mind-expanding ideas without threat of judgment or rejection. Although we are not a society of freethinkers, we welcome anyone who wishes to rationally, critically, and respectfully address personal and social ideas. In addition to the conducting of general club business, we have other activities we do as well. We regularly discuss popular films, like: Inception, Watchmen, etc. We have philosophical discussions, with topics like: Aesthetics and Erotica, Asian Thought and Western Individualism, Bio-Ethics, and others. We want to make the world better than how we found it, so we participate in the United Way Day of Caring and other community service.
