Composition, Literature, and College-Preparatory Reading and Writing

Qualifications: The English and Communications Department offers college-level composition and literature courses and college-preparatory reading and writing courses in the following formats: face-to-face, live online via Zoom, and asynchronous online. Adjunct instructors instruct students, develop curricula, assess student learning, participate in program evaluation, and maintain College and department standards. Minimum Qualifications: To teach college-level courses, graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in field or a master’s degree and 18 graduate hours are required. To teach college-preparatory courses, graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in field or a bachelor’s degree and 18 undergraduate hours in field are required. Successful results of a criminal background check are also required. Instructors must be able to use and demonstrate the use of technology required for assigned course(s). NOTE: This is an open applicant pool. Positions are filled by the department on an as needed basis. Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.'

HVAC

Qualifications: This position requires a passion for effective teaching and advising of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The successful candidate will teach occupational skills and knowledge to provide students with the competence to become skilled in their field; demonstrate occupational materials, tools, equipment, and processes using standard or instructor-prepared instructional aides; instruct students in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools and equipment; control the storage, maintenance, and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse; and establish and maintain standards of student conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type classroom. Additionally, the instructor will recruit eligible students; coordinate student credentialing efforts; assist with determining appropriate program specific learning outcomes; participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes; and collaborate with administrators to strengthen program advisory committees. There is the possibility of multiple campus assignments including day or evening teaching assignments. This position reports to the Director, Workforce Education. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an associate degree; or certificate in HVAC and three years trade experience; or six years of trade experience; proficiency with installation and repair on various types of commercial and residential air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration units; working knowledge of residential and commercial HVAC, building code requirements, OSHA and EPA regulations, and job site safety are required. The successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Qualifications: The nursing programs provide quality educational opportunities for students seeking to enter the healthcare arena as baccalaureate degree nurses, associate degree nurses, or practical nurses in order to meet the health care needs of the community. The nursing adjunct position requires effective teaching of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The successful candidate may teach a broad range of courses in the campus laboratory and/or clinical setting with the possibility of day, evening, weekend, or on-line teaching assignments as assigned. The nursing adjunct will review and understand course plans and materials, effectively deliver subject matter content, monitor student attendance and progress, support activities that foster retention, and take part in other service and professional development activities. This position reports to the Director of Nursing. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a regionally-accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN), current Florida license without restrictions in Florida required by the first date of employment, current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification, and two years current clinical experience. Successful results of a criminal background check and drug screen are required. NOTE: This is an open applicant pool. Positions are filled by the department on an as needed basis.
