September Talent of the Month

Jennie Bachmeier, a job developer in Pensacola State College’s Career and Technical Education Department, has been selected as the September Talent of the Month by Kelly Services.

Bachmeier joined the Pensacola State family in August 2016. She was nominated by her supervisor, Deborah Hooks who described Bachmeier as extremely humble and dedicated.

“Jennie is responsible for placing work study students, going over all of the rules with faculty members and students, and she works closely with financial aid on placement of our students,” Hooks said.

Lady Pirate basketball player commits to University of North Carolina Wilmington

Next fall, Ahyiona Vason will trade in her Lady Pirates garb to become a Seahawk at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

On Wednesday, Nov. 8, Vason a 5-foot 4-inch point guard, signed her Letter of Intent to play basketball at UNC Wilmington in 2018-19.

The Montgomery, Alabama, native will graduate in May with an associate degree in sports fitness and recreation management. She said she felt really at home during a September visit to the Division 1-university.

PSC receives $1.3 million grant for Veterans Upward Bound program

Pensacola State College has received a $1.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to renew its Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) program for the next five years. This program assists 130 veterans per year as they gain skills needed to enter college and become successful students.

The program at Pensacola State is currently the only VUB program in Florida and is one of only 49 federally funded TRIO Veterans Upward Bound programs in the country.

Registration still open for PSC fall term

Registration remains open for Pensacola State College Fall Term. Classes begin Monday, Aug. 21.

Students may register any time online at www.pensacolastate.edu or visit any PSC location.

Regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday – Friday. However, Student Services offices are open to assist you in the registration process with extended hours to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, and Monday – Thursday, Aug. 14-17, and Aug. 21-24.
