Literary icon Eileen Myles to speak at Pensacola State this week

Eileen Myles is considered a trailblazer with decades of literary works that “set a bar for openness, frankness, and variability few lives could ever match.”

Myles, the author of more than 20 books including “I Must Be Living Twice: New & Selected Poems,” and the 2015 reissue of “Chelsea Girls,” will speak at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola State College campus, 1000 College Blvd.

Award-winning guitarist Xavier Jara to perform on Friday

Xavier Jara, 2016 Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Contest winner, will perform at Pensacola State College on Friday, Feb. 9.

The American classical guitarist will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus, 1000 College Blvd. Tickets are $11, adults; $9, seniors, non-PSC students and children; $7, PSC Seniors Club, PSC faculty and staff; and free for PSC students with current ID.

Collegiate High named District 1 Outstanding FBLA Chapter

Pensacola State’s Collegiate High Future Business Leaders of America chapter was named the Outstanding FBLA Chapter of the Year during the 2018 District 1 Conference Awards held Jan. 25 at Pensacola High School.

In its first year, the Collegiate High FBLA chapter beat out middle and high schools from Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties to capture the coveted title. The FBLA is dedicated to helping students improve their leadership skills and achieve academic goals.
