High school students receive a rigorous academic program in a supportive environment at PSC
The Pensacola State College Charter Academy is accepting applications through March 22 for the 2026-2027 School Year Secondary Application Period. Open enrollment begins April 1 and will continue until all available seats have been filled.
The public high school was established with grades 11 and 12 in Fall 2022, offering students and their parents a choice within the Escambia County Public Schools system, and began teaching grades 9 through 12 in Fall 2024.
“Our enrollment goal is 75 students in each grade level,” said Charter Academy Dean Karen McCabe, Ed.D. “We’ve grown from an enrollment of 49 students in our first year to our current enrollment of 203, and I believe we’re on track to be close to 300 next year.”
The PSC Charter Academy offers a rigorous academic program and supportive environment and is committed to providing high school students the opportunity to earn a high school diploma, college credits and an associate degree concurrently.
The four-year curriculum of all honors courses for 9th and 10th grades and college courses for 11th and 12th grades develops the critical thinking, communication, problem-solving and technical skills necessary for students’ postsecondary and career success.
“All seniors complete a Capstone project. This project tasks students with selecting and researching a career, writing a paper, shadowing a mentor in the field, creating a portfolio and presenting their findings. This gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their desired field, providing solid insight prior to completing a bachelor’s degree,” said McCabe.
“We have had students join the U.S. Army, the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Air Force as well as attend UF, UWF, UCF, FSU, Florida A & M, Louisiana State University, the University of Montana, and South Alabama. As each student is accepted we add the university pennant to the wall in the Charter Academy Innovation Center.”
Enrollment requirements are a minimum 3.0 GPA, no disciplinary issues and no attendance issues, along with grade level-specific earned credits and testing requirements.
The application must be completed by the parent or legal guardian of the student applying for admission. The online application is linked from the PSC Charter Academy website anywhere it states APPLY NOW.
