On Friday, May 9, 2025, the Pensacola Bay Center was filled with celebration as it hosted Pensacola State College’s Commencement Ceremony. The stands overflowed with cheering parents, grandparents, spouses, children, and supporters—each one sharing in the joy of the graduates’ accomplishments and the promise of their future.
More than 600 graduates crossed the stage, marking milestones that included baccalaureate degrees, associate degrees, certificates, diplomas, and advanced technical credentials. Each walk reflected perseverance, dedication, and a commitment to personal growth.
For mother and daughter Terri Davidson and Breeann Magdaleno, the moment held special meaning. Both earned baccalaureate degrees in the Dr. Marjan Mazza Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Management program—Terri in Human Resources Management and Breeann in Health Care Management.
“This woman is incredible,” Breeann said. “She is my rock, my best friend.” Their shared accomplishment underscored the power of support, balance, and persistence through their academic journey.
The ceremony was led with tradition and purpose. Chef Jimmie Langham, Associate Professor of Culinary and Hospitality Management, served as Grand Marshal.
Delivering the keynote address was Dr. Troy Tippett, a retired neurosurgeon and member of the PSC District Board of Trustees. A leader in his field, Tippett inspired graduates with a message rooted in service, discipline, and excellence.
In addition to recognizing student achievement, the ceremony honored the retirements of three influential PSC employees: Chef Jimmie Langham, Dr. Tracy Peyton, and Tom Gilliam. Langham, a U.S. Navy veteran, retires after 16 years of guiding Culinary and Hospitality students. Peyton, Head of English and Communications, concluded 28 years of academic leadership. Gilliam—an alumnus of then-PJC and longtime Vice President of Administrative Services and General Counsel—was met with a standing ovation for his decades of service and leadership.
PSC President Edward Meadows formally conferred degrees, certificates, and diplomas to the Class of 2025, closing the evening on a note of triumph and transition.
It was a night defined by achievement, recognition, and the excitement of new beginnings.
