The Free VITA Tax Preparation and e-Filing services are now available on Pensacola State College campuses.
In existence for more than 10 years, the program provides free tax services to working families and individuals who earn less than $66,000 a year. Residents can receive quality service from IRS-trained tax preparers, and have two filing options – online or in-person.
At Pensacola State, hours vary according to site:
● On the Pensacola campus, the service is available until April 18 upstairs in Building 98, just behind Building 96 on College Boulevard. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
● On the Milton campus, services are available by appointment only until April 12 on Tuesday and Thursday in the Campus Library, Building 4100. The college is at 5988 U.S. 90 and to make an appointment, call 484-4450.
● On the Warrington campus, services are available through Aug. 12 in the Student Center, Building 3600, from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Tax filers should bring proof of identity (driver’s license or passport); Social Security cards for taxpayer, spouse and all dependents; all W2s, 1095, 1098 and 1099 forms; childcare provider’s identification number; taxpayer’s banking information or a valid mailing address; estimated tax payments; amounts of other income; and last year’s tax return, if applicable.
The services ─ part of the United Way of Escambia County’s financial stability program ─ helped nearly 3,000 residents in 2016 and had a $5.9 million impact on the community. Sponsors include the United Way of Escambia County and its partners: Pensacola State, Impact America – Florida at the University of West Florida, Escambia County School District, Wells Fargo, Regions Bank, the IRS, and state of Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
