The Free VITA Tax Preparation and e-Filing services will soon be available on Pensacola State College campuses.
In existence for more than 10 years, the program provides free tax services to working families and individuals who earn less than $66,000 a year. Residents can receive quality service from IRS-trained tax preparers and have two filing options – online or in-person.
At Pensacola State, hours vary according to site:
- On the Pensacola campus, the service will be offered Jan. 28-April 18 upstairs in Building 98, just behind Building 96 on College Boulevard. Hours will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
- On the Century Center campus, services will be offered Feb. 5-April 1. On Friday, appointments must be made in advance by calling 211. The center is at 1440 E. Heckler Road.
- On the Warrington campus, services will be offered Feb. 5-April 11 in the Student Center, Building 3600, from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The campus is at 5555 W. Highway 98.
Tax filers should bring proof of identity (driver’s license or passport); Social Security cards for taxpayer, spouse and all dependents; all W2s, 1095, 1098 and 1099 forms; childcare provider’s identification number; taxpayer’s banking information or a valid mailing address; estimated tax payments; amounts of other income; and last year’s tax return, if applicable.
All volunteers are certified by the Internal Revenue Services. The services are part of the United Way of Escambia County’s financial stability program ─ which has helped thousands of residents file their income tax returns.
