INTRODUCTION

The curriculum provides the first two years of college education leading to transfer to a Florida school offering a baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology.

Students should consult with an advisor at the college or university they plan to attend for the specific courses recommended by that institution. We strongly encourage you to contact the Pensacola State College Biological Sciences Department for assistance in planning your program of study.  If you plan to transfer of University of West Florida, please contact Dr. Elizabeth Yelverton, (850) 484-2527 to make sure you meet UWF admission requirements.

BEYOND GRADUATION

The curriculum provides the first two years of college education leading to transfer to a Florida school offering a baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology.

Occupations

Anesthesiologist

Physicians who administer anesthetics prior to, during, or after surgery or other medical procedures.

Radiologist

Examine and diagnose disorders and diseases using x-rays and radioactive materials. May treat patients.

Preventive Medicine Physician

Apply knowledge of general preventive medicine and public health issues to promote health care to groups or individuals, and aid in the prevention or reduction of risk of disease, injury, disability, or death. May practice population-based medicine or diagnose and treat patients in the context of clinical health promotion and disease prevention.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician

Diagnose and treat disorders requiring physiotherapy to provide physical, mental, and occupational rehabilitation.

Pathologist

Diagnose presence and stage of diseases using laboratory techniques and patient specimens. Study the nature, cause, and development of diseases. May perform autopsies.
