Many parents warn their children about “stranger danger.” However, former law officer Chris Wilkinson says stranger danger should not be the only concern. In an eye-opening presentation on March 13 at Hagler Auditorium, Wilkinson went into detail about the dangers children face today ─ especially on the internet.
Pensacola Guitar Orchestra to celebrate 35th anniversary recital on April 14
The Pensacola Guitar Orchestra – under the direction of Joe Stallings – will hold its 35th Anniversary Spring Recital on Saturday, April 14, at Pensacola State College. The performance is set for at 7:30 p.m. in Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus, 1000 College Blvd. Admission is free.
Soul Street Dance to bring ‘Breakin Backwards’ show to Pensacola State
The Soul Street Dance troupe has been described as one of the premier dance companies in existence. On Tuesday, March 20, these four high-energy Houston-based dancers will perform its “Breakin Backwards” show at 7:30 p.m. in Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus, 1000 College Blvd.
TRIO Student Support Services ‘shares the love’ with PSC students
Pensacola State College’s TRIO programs staff celebrated National TRIO Day by “sharing the love” with students on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. “We wanted to ‘Share the Love’ in order to raise awareness of our TRIO programs here at Pensacola State College,” Student Support Services Director Rachelle Burns said. National TRIO Day is a great opportunity to do that because it’s a day set aside by Congress to recognize who TRIO is and what we do.”
2018 PSC Photography Sunset Contest
Kendall Sainata is the winner of the 2018 Pensacola State College Photography Sunset Contest. Patrons of Jaco's Bayfront Bar and Grille voted Sainata’s photograph as their favorite during the contest held Feb. 7-28. Pensacola State’s Valerie Lawson won honorable mention in the contest.
Jennifer Hill selected Kelly Services Talent of the Month for February
Jennifer Hill has been selected the Kelly Services Talent of the Month for February. Hill works at WSRE and is the primary staff person for PBS station’s Imagination Station ─ a free hands-on children’s activity resource room at the Pensacola Bayfront Stadium for children and parents.
4 faculty members to be inducted into Academy of Teaching Excellence
Four Pensacola State faculty members have been selected for induction into the college’s Academy of Teaching Excellence.  The faculty members are: Jeanne Branch, Assistant Professor, Business Roberta Harvey, Assistant Professor, Biological Sciences Dr. Vasanth Ramachandran, Assistant Professor, Physical Sciences    Dr. Barbara Reitz, Assistant Professor, Biological Sciences
Theta Chi chapter named a Five Star Chapter at 2018 PTK convention
Pensacola State College’s Theta Chi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa was named a Five Star Chapter at the annual Phi Theta Kappa – Florida 2018 Regional Convention held March 2-4 in Tampa. “It was such an honor to receive this award from our peers,” said Amber Carey, Pensacola State’s Theta Chi chapter adviser. “All or our student-members work very hard to make the Theta Chi chapter one of the best PTK groups in the state. We are very proud.”
Rainy day video wins PSC baseball team a Blue Wahoos field tarp
A picture may be worth a thousand words but a video turned out to be a home run for the Pensacola State Pirates baseball team. The Pirates beat out baseball organizations from Arizona to Georgia to win a field tarp from the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. The Blue Wahoos received a new tarp for its seventh season, and held a video contest to find a home for the old one which was still in good condition.
