Don Snowden, Department Head and Director of Bands, is the State Advisor for the Music Division of the Florida Community College Activities Association. He is also the President of the National Association of Concert Bands.

MitchellTheatre student, Kip Hayes, passed the State Screening Audition at Florida Theatre Conference this year and has been invited to audition at the Southeastern Theatre Conference.  Over 4,000 actors, professional company representatives, design and technical professionals, theatre educators, students, commercial exhibitors, university representatives, and community theatre producers and will gather for the nation’s largest theatre convention in Chattanooga.  He will audition for a professional acting position at the convention.

Kip has performed on the Pensacola State stage for many years, including memorable roles in Chicago, The Wizard of Oz, and Of Mice and Men.

 

MitchellRodney Whatley, Director of Theatre, received his Ph.D. in Dramatic Theory and Criticism from Florida State University's School of Theatre on December 17th. His area of specialty is Contemporary Theatre, with an emphasis on David Mamet scholarship.

 

 

 

 

Alumni News

Austen Edwards (AA Theatre 2008) is continuing her studies as a BA Theatre Major at the University of Central Florida.

Vincent Teschel (AA Theatre 2007) has received his BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Dance from Jacksonville University. He also received his Certificate in Musical Theatre from the Circle in the Square Theatre in New York City. He is currently a working actor in Montana.

Pensacola State College Music Students Receive Scholarships

Two Pensacola State College freshmen music majors recently received the Ike Terry Memorial Scholarship from the Cantonment Rotary Club.

Kevin Griffin, trumpet and bass, and Paige Sieminski, vocal major, received $1,000 each. Pensacola State College professor and Cantonment Rotary Club member Jack O’Donnell made the presentation.

The scholarship was established for the late Ike Terry, minister of music at First United Methodist Church and member of the Cantonment Rotary Club.
