State Employees to Receive Tuition Waivers
5/4/2005 PJC is proud to offer state employees the opportunity to enroll in six credits or less during a semester with a waiver of tuition. Registration will be permitted on a space-available basis, and approval must be granted by the state agency. The following information outlines the eligibility criteria, the admissions requirements and the registration process.

Eligibility
All full-time permanent employees certified by a state agency are eligible. Employees of the state university system are not eligible for this program. Each employee will be required to submit employment verification each semester of registration. Tuition will be waived for classes on a space-available basis.

Admission
State employees who have never attended PJC will be required to submit an application for admission including the $30 non-refundable application fee. State employees who have attended credit classes at PJC in the past, but who have not been enrolled in the previous 12 months, will be required to submit a reapplication. The application fee is not assessed for former credit students. State employees who have attended PJC within the previous 12 months will not need to submit a reapplication.

Testing
All new degree-seeking students are required to take the College Placement Test (CPT). Scores received on this placement test will determine eligibility for some classes. Non-degree seeking students will not be required to take the CPT unless they enroll in a mathematics class or a writing emphasis class. See Page 57 of the 2002-2003 Catalog for a listing of writing-emphasis courses or review the College Catalog on the website at www.pjc.edu. Students who have earned college credit in College Algebra and English Composition will not be required to take the test, but evidence of credit in these courses must be presented to the Admissions Office.

Waiver of Tuition
State employees must complete the State Employee Waiver Form; the signature of the employee's supervisor is required. The form must be submitted to a Financial Aid Office at any campus or center on the day of registration. All previous steps (admission and applicable testing) must be completed before submitting the State Employee Waiver Form. The State Employee Waiver Form is available at www.pjc.edu/forms/forms.asp.

Registration
(Space-Available Basis)
State employees may register in person between the third and last day of the late registration period (after classes begin). The space-available status of registration prevents enrollment in closed classes or limited-access courses. Registration in any course not covered by the State Employee Waiver must be processed prior to the first day of classes to avoid the assessment of a late fee. All lab fees associated with any class are not covered by the State Employee Waiver and must be paid by the student.
