Pensacola State College at a Glance


Pensacola State College is a public, comprehensive community college that was founded as Pensacola Junior College in 1948. Today, the college serves traditional and non-traditional students in Northwest Florida and Southern Alabama.


In the 1948-1949 academic year, 136 students enrolled. By 2009-2010, enrollment swelled to about 28,000 students. More than 37 percent of graduating seniors from Escambia and Santa Rosa counties begin college life at Pensacola State College.


The college offers full-service campuses in Milton, Pensacola and Warrington, as well as corporate training at the Downtown Center. Pensacola State College broke ground in July 2010 for its $9.4 million South Santa Rosa Center. It is slated to open in spring 2012.


Pensacola State College is widely recognized as a premier, student-friendly college that competes with the best – offering more than 100 first-rate programs, high-tech resources and exciting opportunities. The Mary Ekdahl Smart Center for Patient Simulation Training & Research on the Warrington campus is nationally recognized as a cutting-edge facility.


First in affordability, Pensacola State College is a smart first step toward a university degree or a high-tech career. Offerings include: Bachelor of Applied Science in Administration and Supervision, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science and certificate programs.


The B.A.S. and B.S.N. programs open doors for career advancement and retraining for those with A.S. or A.A.S. degrees.


Students earning the A.A. degree have guaranteed admission to Florida’s 11 state universities. Students transfer easily to nationally recognized colleges such as Cornell, Duke, Vanderbilt and Tulane.


For Pensacola State students earning certificates, A.S. and A.A.S. degrees, job placement hits 100 percent in many technical areas. The A.S. degree also transfers to Florida universities.


The college offers excellent opportunities via its Dual Enrollment program, Collegiate High School, Adult Basic Education and Continuing Education departments.
