Jaune Quick-to-See Smith,
painter/printmaker
Anna Lamar Switzer Distinguished Artist Born in 1940 on the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Indian Reservation in Montana, Jaune Quick-To-See Smith is an internationally renowned painter and printmaker.

She has been creating complicated abstract paintings and lithographs since the 1970s and employs a wide variety of media working in painting, printmaking and textured mixed media pieces. Her works contain strong socio-political commentary that speaks to past and present cultural appropriation and abuse, while identifying the continued significance of the Native American peoples.

Her art is in many private and public international collections including at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Museum of Mankind, Vienna, Austria; Museum of Modern Art, Quito, Ecuador; and Museum of Modern Art, New York. Smith has been admitted to the New Mexico Womens Hall of Fame.
